How to install a Wear OS watch face

Install your new face, choose it on your watch and make it your own.

1. Check your watch.

These watch faces are for compatible Wear OS watches. Each product page lists the minimum Wear OS version. They do not work on Apple Watch or Samsung watches running Tizen. Google Play is the final check for your device’s compatibility.

2. Buy and install through Google Play.

Open the face’s Google Play link while signed in to the Google account used on your watch. Select the compatible watch if a device selector is shown, check the local price and complete your purchase. You can also open Play Store on the watch and search for the exact store title.

Keep your watch connected to the internet while the download finishes. The face installs on the watch; you do not need to look for a new phone app.

3. Choose the face.

On your watch, touch and hold the current face to open the face picker. Look for Add watch face or the end of your current selection, find your new face and select it. The wording and layout vary by watch. Your watch’s companion app may also let you change faces.

4. Make it yours.

Touch and hold the new face and choose Edit or Customize. Swipe through the available settings to select artwork, colors and supported data slots, then save. The options vary by face; the product page describes what is included.

A data slot is also called a complication. Available providers depend on the watch and installed apps. Follow any permission prompts for the data you choose.

Samsung Galaxy Watch faces.

On a supported Wear OS Galaxy Watch, use the watch-face picker or open Galaxy Wearable on your phone and choose Watch faces. Select the installed face, then Customize to change its supported options. Older Galaxy Watch models running Tizen cannot use this collection. Check the required Wear OS version on each product page.

Samsung’s watch-face guide explains the available controls.

Google Pixel Watch faces.

After installation, touch and hold the current face on your Pixel Watch, choose Add new, and select the face. The Google Pixel Watch phone app also offers a Watch faces section for choosing and editing supported faces. Your watch software version and the individual Google Play listing determine compatibility.

Google’s Pixel Watch guide covers changing and customizing faces.

Buying from another country.

Browse the same collection wherever you live. Google Play shows the local price, language and availability for your account. Our links do not force a US storefront. A compatible watch and the required Wear OS version are necessary in every region.

Purchased, but cannot find it?

Check that your watch uses the same Google account as the purchase and that the install has finished. Reopen the face’s Play listing on the watch, then check the face picker again. If Play says the device is incompatible, check the required Wear OS version before purchasing.

Still stuck? Contact support with your watch model, Wear OS version and the name of the face.
